This is a 62.4-mile out-and-back ride along flat and hilly terrain. The ride starts and finishes in Cedar City, venturing into the Iron Mountains to the west, along the Legacy Loop Highway. The elevations range from 5,450 feet on SR 56 just east of the Iron Mountains to 6,560 feet at the Iron Mountains summit. Most of the course is on SR 56, so the pavement is generally smooth. The highway actually passes between several mountain ranges: The Swett Hills are on the right upon leaving the city; the Iron Mountains are immediately to the west. The Harmony Mountains are to the left (i.e., on the south side of SR 56). You probably will not notice the difference when you are riding, though—they will all be mountains.
