Panorama Trail Professional Review and Guide

"This four-mile combination ride (two-mile out-and-back connecting to a two-mile loop) is a real kick. It makes a great way to start or end the day when you’re camping at the Kodachrome Basin State Park’s superlative campground. Technically the ride is rated moderately difficult, but aerobically it is easy. Because of the sand surfaces, it makes a good choice when conditions are wet—and when Cottonwood Canyon Road and other points within the adjacent Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument will probably not be passable.

Take it slow and enjoy the scenery, dismounting now and then to mix hiking with biking. It’s the only trail open to bikes in the park, so please respect the rules to ensure that it remains open. Don’t ride off-trail onto slickrock or through gardens of spirelike cryptobiotic soil. Consider it a nature bike-hike: It’s short but fun enough that you may want to do it again. General location: Eight miles southeast of Cannonville."
