Alpine Pond Cedar Breaks National Monument

Alpine Pond (Cedar Breaks National Monument) Professional Review and Guide

"A short loop trail through wooded country atop the Markagunt Plateau. This trail forms a loop through the subalpine forest above the east rim of the Cedar Breaks amphitheater. It is a self-guiding nature walk, with pamphlets provided at either trailhead.

We describe the trek as a 2.1-mile loop from the Chessman Overlook, but hikers can also approach the loop from the Alpine Pond Trailhead at its north end or choose between several shorter point-to-point hikes."

This is a great day-hike when visiting Cedar Breaks. Although the lake is nothing spectacular, it's an easy day hike and affords opportunities to view some wildlife and learn about the flora and fauna of the Markagunt Plateau.
