Wolverine Loop

Wolverine Loop Professional Review and Guide

"This loop trail, contained entirely within the Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument, runs south of the Burr Trail, west of Capitol Reef National Park. For the most part, the route follows a loop trail that has been graded by the BLM. However, at the farthest end of the graded loop, the route breaks away from the graded trail in favor of a smaller ungraded sandy track that follows a small wash and runs briefly along a ridgetop offering excellent views.

Special Attractions: Wolverine Petrified Wood Natural Area; Slot canyons in Wolverine Canyon; Spectacular canyon scenery in the Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monument. High-clearance 4WDs are preferred, but any high-clearance vehicle is acceptable. Expect a rough road surface; mud and sand are possible but will be easily passable. You may encounter rocks up to 6 inches in diameter, a loose road surface, and shelf roads, though these will be wide enough for passing or will have adequate pull-offs."
