Main Moody Canyon

Main Moody Canyon Professional Review and Guide

"A long day hike or overnight backpack into remote and spectacular side canyons of the Escalante River in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Special attractions include solitude, spectacular desert varnish walls, and the possibility of seeing desert bighorn sheep.

Moody Canyon should be attempted only by hikers who are comfortable with and prepared for remote desert backpacking. Water may be nonexistent except at the Escalante River, and you will probably be the only person for miles around—especially in the off-season. Despite (or possibly because of) its remote nature, the Escalante country receives more and more use each year."
