The Great White Whale

The Great White Whale Professional Review and Guide

"The Great White Whale is a short mountain squatting between Mount Holly and Delano Peak. On official maps, it’s labeled as Point 11526, but locals have dubbed it the Great White Whale, perhaps due to its broad, rounded shape. Getting there is a short tour from the Snorkeling Elk Yurt, but the approach is much longer from the trailhead at State Route 153 or Eagle Point Resort. Winter and spring are the best times to ski or snowboard here as the mountain is often covered in either powder or corn, respectively, but the Tushars’ high winds can wipe the snow away, leaving rocky ground behind. As for descents to ski or snowboard, you can choose from the
moderate west ridge or steeper shots on the north face."
