Shelly Baldy Peak

Shelly Baldy Peak Professional Review and Guide

"Shelly Baldy Peak is the most visible mountain on the horizon when you’re staying
at the Snorkeling Elk Yurt. Therefore, many a backcountry skier’s eye is drawn to her
delicious-looking snowfields. Although the mountain isn’t as easy to access as Delano
Peak or Mount Holly because of several ridges and gullies that must be traversed on the approach, the effort to get there is well worth it. Plus, you can find good skiing
and snowboarding options all along the way. Skin north up the road for 4.6 miles as it gradually climbs toward Big John Flat and reach the Snorkeling Elk Yurt. The yurt is next to a Forest Service outhouse near the junction of the road and the Skyline National Recreation Trail."
