Big John Flat Professional Review and Guide
"This ride begins not far from Elk Meadows Ski Area, located in the Tushar Mountains, whose high watershed divide serves as part of the boundary between Panoramaland and Color Country. For an area that’s bustling throughout winter with skier activity, it can be surprisingly lonesome in summer. The short, seven-mile outing consists of a one-mile spur connecting to a five-mile loop.
It’s rated moderately difficult in regard to aerobic challenge, owing to the sustained, 3.5-mile climb gaining 1,200 feet of elevation. Technically it is moderately difficult as well, encompassing a descent over ATV trail that is occasionally steep, rocky, rutted, and/or muddy. General location: Approximately 25 miles northwest of Junction, or 15 miles east of Beaver."
