Beaver and Piute Counties - Delano Peak

Beaver and Piute Counties - Delano Peak Professional Review and Guide

"Though not officially designated as wilderness, few places in Utah offer the solitude of a mid-March ski tour to the peak’s summit, the highest point within 110 miles in any direction. And, according to M. Riddle, author of the Fishlake National Forest Backcountry Guide for Hiking and Horseback Riding, Delano might be the easiest peak over 12,000 feet to hike in the West.

Murphy said skiers can normally enjoy a trip to the summit from late November until early June each year. Most start from the parking lot of the upper day lodge at the Elk Meadows Ski Resort which is guarded by 11,985-foot Mt. Holly. When the resort is open, nordic skiers can purchase a single ride on the triple chair and then start skiing along the west side of Mt. Holly to a ridge."
