Lake Catherine Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Lake Catherine, a sister lake to Lake Martha and Lake Mary, is located in Big Cottonwood Canyon. But this scenic route ascends the ridge from the Little Cottonwood side and offers a shorter approach than from Brighton. Hikers of all ages seem to enjoy the trail from Albion Basin to Lake Catherine. Meadows of wildflowers, a shimmering alpine lake, and abundant wildlife are all on display.

As with other hikes in this area, some of the canyon’s mining history is still evident and mining remnants can be spotted. A camera is a must, as are sunblock and water. For a summer hike, use the second trailhead, which is 0.2 mile southeast of the Sunnyside chairlift parking area. Start"

Beautiful trail. Wide and easy walking. The initial portion of the trail was closed for restoration but since the sign that says that is were it joins with the main trail, you don't know that until you get there. A trail worth taking.
