Albion Basin Campground

Albion Basin Campground Professional Review and Guide

"Despite its proximity to the town of Alta and its surrounding ski property, Albion Basin can take on a feeling of seclusion. Perhaps it’s the immediate contrast of wild and domesticated land. Upon seeing the domesticated, you quickly identify yourself with the wild. It may be the small stream that wanders through the camp; its slow-moving waters create just enough background noise to blot out the occasional sound of a passing car or group of hikers.

Still, it’s a good idea to keep valuables out of sight, as there’s a lot of day traffic coming in and out of camp. Or perhaps it’s the brilliant and hypnotic wildflowers that carpet the surrounding hills each summer. Who has time to look at a ski lift when there are showy blooms of wild geranium, penstemon, Indian paintbrush, and lupines in shades of purple, red, yellow, and white? The Albion Basin is where Mother Nature shows off her artistic side. There are hundreds of varieties of flowering plants in nearly every hue that delight visitors throughout July and August. Staying at the campground gives you a front-row seat."
