Sugarloaf Pass Rd Professional Review and Guide

"The Sugarloaf Road leads to a ridgeline perch, with the Alta ski area spread out to the north and commanding views of the upper American Fork Canyon to the south.

Hiking the Sugarloaf Road, a service road that gently climbs through open wet meadows, rocky hillsides, and past several abandoned mines, leads to one of the easiest views overlooking American Fork Canyon. The trail, which passes near many remnants of the area’s rich mining history, gradually climbs to the divide overlooking American Fork Canyon, Mount Timpanogos, and Hidden Peak. Fortunately, the mine shafts have been gated for everyone’s safety. In addition to the mine remains, alpine wildflowers dot the hillsides, and it is interesting to see how the vegetation and wildlife change as you climb to the end of this trail, which is near the top of the Sugarloaf chairlift."

A nice walk if you don't care to see anyone, but in full sun for the majority of the hike.
