"Located in the middle of the Uintas, Fehr Lake and companion lakes Shepard, Hoover, and Marshall offer the novice hiker and dogs a perfect entry-level hike into the Uintas. Rocky mountain peaks, dazzling wildflowers, and plenty of water make this a superlative half-day hike. Depending on energy level, choose one, two, three, or all four of these gemlike lakes to explore. Because this hike is short and accessible, don’t expect a honeymoon hike. Kids, small dogs, and mature hikers will love all this hike dishes up. The ambitious can launch a multiday backpacking trip from Fehr Lake."

"Even small kids can enjoy this hike. You don’t have to be in good shape either. This is a minihike. If you only have a couple of hours to spend, you could take a leisurely stroll down to Fehr Lake, fish a bit, and still make it back in time for lunch."

"The Fehr Lake Trail descends along a route that skirts three alpine lakes and passes through woods and meadows, and along ponds and small streams. You can hike this trail as a short 1-mile stroll to Fehr Lake or continue to Shepard and Hoover lakes for a 3-mile round-trip walk—all in the shadow of Murdock Mountain to the southwest."

This is a great hike for young kids. I'm talking 3-5 years old. No sooner did my 5 year old ask "Are we there yet?" and the lake came into view. The lake was quiet and provides access to numerous other lakes.
