Beechwoods Trail Professional Review and Guide
"The Beechwoods Trail is located, appropriately, in the Big Thicket National Preserve’s Beech Creek Unit where Beech Creek and Little Beech Creek intersect. It offers a shady stroll through a mature hardwood forest with a chance to see native blooming orchids. The words “beech” and “book” are both derivatives from similar Anglo-Saxon words which may be attributable to the fact that our Teutonic ancestors used beech wood as a writing surface. The American beech tree is prevalent along the trail, providing a major prong to the beechmagnolia-loblolly triumvirate that comprises this mature hardwood forest."
