The friendly gatekeepers will provide you with a map and directions to the best tent-camping sites far away from the RV area near the main boat ramp on the 49,820-acre multiuse Lake Whitney. This lake was formed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1951 to provide flood control and hydroelectric power. While not generally known as a park creator, the Corps has done an excellent job in designing West Lofers with the tent camper in mind.
