    "Finding the campground: From Abilene, travel 16 miles southwest on FM 89, through Buffalo Gap, then on Park Road 32 to the park entrance.

    Abilene State Park offers camping, hiking, nature study, picnicking, fishing in the park’s Buffalo Wallow Pond and nearby Lake Abilene, and biking and walking on park roads. Amenities include a playground area; summertime 40-by-110-foot swimming pool and 10-by-30foot wading pool; sand volleyball and horseshoes pits; a basketball goal; and a large open area for baseball, soccer, football, and kite flying."
