From park headquarters, drive to the head of the Sycamore Trail using Park Road 38. There are restrooms and another small parking lot about 30 feet east of the trailhead. Turn right out of the parking lot and walk to the Sycamore Trail sign. Once on the trail, take a left at the first fork. Watch out for large spider webs on the trail from spring to early fall. Some of the spiders are banana spiders (also called yellow golden spiders), which can grow up to 4 inches in diameter and can seem quite menacing. However, they are not poisonous and pose no threat. The webs are generally about head high, so you can duck below most of them without disturbing the web.
