The most prominent feature of Brazos Bend State Park is the alligators, which can be as close as five feet with no fence or barrier separating you from them. Because of this, be very aware of your surroundings and do not let small children run ahead. Most of these alligators are acclimated to people, but it is best to err on the side of caution. Pets on leash are allowed, but do not let them drink from the lake or enter the water under any circumstances. There are water stations located on the trails for both people and dogs.
