This 364-acre natural area became a city park in 2005, a joint project of the San Antonio Parks Foundation, the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department, the Kronkowsky Foundation, and Texas Parks and Wildlife. It includes areas on both sides of the river, with group camping on the south side and, on the north side, a covered pavilion, restrooms, and 2.6 miles of trails that range from 8-foot-wide pavement to narrow dirt paths. There are plans to add more land and more than 10 miles of trails to the park.
