Medina River Park is perfect for nature and river lovers. Start on the El Camino Trail, a concrete, wheelchair-accessible path that goes to an overlook on the Medina River. Pick up the Rio Medina Trail and follow the river through the natural area. The riparian area features large cottonwoods, native pecans, and bald cypress trees lining the river’s edge. In spring, brightly colored birds including painted buntings, indigo buntings, and cedar waxwings may be observed in the wildflower area near the office. From the trailhead, follow the twisting and turning El Camino Trail. A low stone fence is on the left where the trail makes a gradual bend going right. Pass a large open-sided pavilion that has picnic tables, grills, and a water fountain.
