Friedrich Wilderness Park Loop

Friedrich Wilderness Park Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"The city of Leon Valley has expanded around Friedrich Wilderness Park, the setting for this loop, and the well-tended preserve gets heavy use, especially on weekends. Who wouldn’t want to get their exercise in such a pristine slice of Hill Country? For hikers, this first-rate trek delivers steep climbs to high outcrops, varied environments, and an abundance of Central Texas plant life.

San Antonians have taken to the Friedrich Wilderness Park, enthusiastically using the preserve's nearly 6 miles of trails for running and walking, as well as hiking. We can imagine that Norma Friedrich Ward, who bequeathed the park's original 180 acres to the city in memory of her parents, would be happy to see the land both enjoyed and in good health. The preserve is a delicate ecosystem, and the rules require that it be treated as such. No pets or bicycles are allowed, and fires and smoking are also prohibited."
