For people staying at Dog Canyon Campground, the Indian Meadow Interpretive Trail may not be enough exercise and excitement. If so, the Lost Peak trail is a great choice for a half-day hike. It's a convenient distance (6 miles), and with a 1,400-foot elevation gain in 3 miles, you'll get enough exercise. In 1994, a lightning-caused fire scorched much of the area right around the campground. You can see that nature has quickly reclaimed the surface, but it will take many years to replace some of the majestic trees killed in the fire.
