Turk’s Cap Loop

Turk’s Cap Loop Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"What makes this hike special are the trees—big, gnarled-limbed live oak trees that line the path, their tenuous fingers stretching out over the trail, creating an eerie yet beautiful canopy. In the underbrush warblers and hummingbirds flitter about their business while cottontail rabbits hop alongside.

There are two pieces to Goose Island State Park. One piece, the main park itself, is on the tip of the Lamar Peninsula that separates Copano and St. Charles Bay, and the other, smaller piece is on the short, narrow island that is just south of the peninsula called Goose Island."

Harvey severely damaged many Live Oaks. The birds are slowly returning. The trail was finally cleared the entire length last week. Date for Park opening gets moved further out due to updating camp sites with new water plumbing.
