To start the North Wilderness Loop hike, enter the woods at the hiker sign. Go past an information sign and through a motorized-vehicle barrier to reach the 1-foot-wide trail. The vegetation is thick on both sides, with FM 149 running on your left just past the trees. The markers on this trail are silver and are located about 6 feet high in the trees. If during any hike on the Lone Star Trail you have not seen a marker in a few minutes, stop and get your bearings.

Great network of trails, I did an overnight backpacking trip by connecting several trails together to get roughly 18 miles. Beautiful and remote. I would recommend. No permits required so this trail always a last minute choice.
