To start the hike, go across FM 149 to the trailhead and enter the woods at the hiker sign. The trail markers on this hike are silver and are located about 6 feet high in the trees. If during any hike on the Lone Star Trail you have not seen a marker in a few minutes, stop and get your bearings. Look ahead and to both sides and you should be able to see a marker in the distance. The narrow dirt trail winds through thick woodlands vegetation.
