Ray Roberts Lake State Park Professional Review and Guide
"This pretty trek through hardwoods stops at interpretive signs identifying flora and leads to a pretty grove of pine trees. A spur midway through leads to a sandy lakeshore, along which you can find animal tracks and birds such as herons and egrets. This hike can be extended by walking along the lake shoreline. Bring binoculars along for bird-watching.Isle du Bois, which translates to “Island of the Trees,” is part of the lake’s state park complex, and sits on its southern shore. The park opened in 1993, making it a few years older than the neighboring Johnson Branch Unit, which opened in 1996. Within the park, you’ll find miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, all of which see good use."
