Big Bend Ranch State Park

Big Bend Ranch State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Located in the shadow of its better-known neighbor, Big Bend Ranch State Park is an idyllic escape for those seeking a tent camping site along the scenic Rio Grande River with easy access to FM 170.

Whether you’re coming from Presidio to the Northwest or Lajitas and Big Bend National Park to the Southeast, the rugged beauty of this seldom-traveled road as it cuts through Colorado Canyon makes up for any lack of fancy campground amenities along the river. This 30-mile stretch of roadway will lead you to 12 primitive sites with hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails. There are showers near the historic lodge and Bunk House at Sauceda, but be sure to check in with the park to make sure they’re accessible to primitive campers."
