Pleasure Island Professional Review and Guide
"This partly artificially created “island ” comprises a long strip of land separating the Intracoastal Waterway from Sabine Lake (the broad body of water justnorth of the Sabine River’s mouth at the Gulf of Mexico). Just minutes from Port Arthur, it’s home to recreation areas, a marina, restaurants, and condominiums. Birders visit it to drive its long levees in search of waterbirds. Pleasure Island is easy to bird from your vehicle, and it’s worth a visit from fall through spring."
