Palestine is a historic east Texas town in a very pretty setting. Flowering dogwoods and wildflowers in spring and fall foliage in autumn add bright, beautiful colors to the Piney Woods here. Quiet county roads cross the forests and meadows around Palestine. A ride along the roads here is especially attractive during the change of seasons, but it can be enjoyed any time of the year. Terrain: hilly and forested. Road: Anderson County roads are one lane with some rough surfaces, lightly traveled. FM roads are two lanes, no shoulders, with some traffic on the return to Palestine on FM 3309. There are unregulated crossings of Texas 155 and US 79, which have four lanes and high-speed traffic.
