Pflugerville Hike and Bike Trail Professional Review and Guide
"Pflugerville sits on the eastern edge of the Balcones Escarpment, the dividing line between the rich farmland of the Blackland Prairies to the east and the Hill Country of the Edwards Plateau to the west. The relatively flat character of the landscape and the country roads free of traffic make this area a favorite for both pleasure rides and early season training for serious cyclists. The wonderful farmland to the east remains unaffected by development and retains much of its original charm and special character. Over the years, cyclists have passed several movie shoots that used this rural setting as a backdrop to re-create the feel of country life in years past. A ride in the warm evening of late summer, when flocks of birds hover over the harvest, is especially enjoyable. Terrain: mostly flat, some gently rolling farmland. Road: two-lane roads, carrying mostly farm traffic. Some higher speed traffic leaving Pflugerville on FM 685 and returning on Pflugerville E. Use the hike-and-bike trail for the last mile back into town to avoid traffic."
