I have ridden and hiked here many times; this is a nice quiet trail tucked away on the north side of Lake Lavon. It may get a little noisier during duck season, though, since hunters have access rights both along the shore and on the main trail to get to the shore hunting areas. That’s OK—this trail is often so wet during duck season that it’s not rideable anyway. This trail always seems a little harder than it actually is because the surface is often so rough and bumpy that it’s hard to get any really fast clean lines through many sections. Otherwise, I would generally call this a suitable beginner trail, fine for just about anyone with a mountain bike. The climbing is very gradual, for the most part, and the only really hard sections would look pretty mild on just about any other area trail.

Hello from your new trail steward. Check on DORBA org for trail conditions and updates, and posted work days. Come ride with us! Puppy Dog Loop is open, and in good shape Sister Loop is open and pretty well tended. Lake Loop is open and under construction as we cut back old trees and fix ruts, and improve some of the turns.

This is the most fun to ride! Some through woods, some through fields, very little foot traffic. There are occasional views of Lake Lavon. Some of the trail is a little technical, but mostly you can practice zipping around curves and powering up root-bound tracks through the trees. Very nice. Well maintained and clean. Just remember to PLEASE keep it that way!
