Mae Simmons Park Trail Professional Review and Guide
"I had heard of this trail for years before I finally got to ride here. I blew through town one day, headed from Palo Duro to the X-Bar, and found the trail and rode. Down by Dunbar Historic Lake. You know, I grew up north of here, in Plainview, and I had never been down to this canyon before. I guess I’ve driven by here a hundred times, but that was long before mountain bikes. I came out here and rode it; I was in a bad mood and it was hot, and I hated this trail.
Then, after I came to my senses and thought about it, I realized it is a pretty cool place, after all. I was riding along at one point, and a small hawk came zooming over my shoulder and landed in a tree right in front of me. I fumbled around and tried to get my binoculars out, but he had lunch in his left talon and other ideas. He flew on, I went on up the trail. Stuff like this happens to me."
