Lost Maples Challenge Professional Review and Guide
"The canyons carved by the Sabinal and Frio rivers set the stage for a special bike ride. On this challenging tour you'll pass through all of the beauty that the Texas Hill Country has to offer. A walk among the bigtooth maples lining the banks of the Sabinal River at the Lost Maples State Natural Area is a must, but it adds 8 miles to the ride if you start there. Terrain: long, steep climbs to start the tour, with equally dramatic descents following. Rolling hills on RM 1050. Otherwise fairly level. Road: lightly traveled country roads. US 83 (used for .7 mile) has four lanes and an adequate shoulder."
