The Lake Trail is the only hike in Lake Livingston State Park that takes you along the shores of the lake. It winds through the campgrounds and past the fishing piers. Along Lake Livingston, an 84,800-acre reservoir, are the 635.5 acres of Lake Livingston State Park. Along with easy, well-maintained hiking trails with a variety of views, the park offers camping, picnicking, swimming, mountain biking, horseback riding, fishing, and boating. A special attraction is a 30-foot observation tower, located near the park store and boat ramp, featuring views of the park and the lake. Park vegetation includes loblolly pines and water oak in the pine-oak woodlands. Typical wildlife includes white-tailed deer, raccoons, mallard ducks, swamp rabbits, armadillos, and squirrels. The park is most crowded in the fall and spring on weekends, but summer weekends find very few campers here.
