Kerrville is the Hill Country's largest town and one of the state's premier resort and retirement centers. There is always something happening in or around Kerrville. Nearby summer camps and retreats host a variety of activities year-round. Kerr County roads have been the site of amateur and professional races. The huge cypress trees that still line the rivers and creeks throughout this ride give portions of it a special feel. Start at Schreiner College. Terrain: hilly with some challenging climbs. Road: busy traffic on Texas 27 (first and last mile) and Texas 173, which have wide lanes but no shoulder. Texas 16 has high-speed traffic but a wide shoulder. FM roads are two lanes with lighter traffic. Country roads are narrow lanes with little traffic.
