A 54-mile paved road through two of Texas’s most interesting state parks, with beautiful lakes and the historic port town of Jefferson. This drive starts at Daingerfield State Park, a popular site with good fall color. From there it passes through Lone Star, a large steel-making center along the shores of Lake O’ the Pines, one of the most attractive lakes in East Texas, and into the historic port town of Jefferson. The drive ends at mysterious Caddo Lake, where cypress-dotted waters sometimes appear to be more swamp than lake.
