The north and south forks of the Guadalupe River converge in the small community of Hunt. Summer camps and ranches stocked with exotic game line the shores of these quiet river forks. Huge cypress trees border the river and contribute to the special character of this bike ride through the Texas Hill Country. Don't let the distance of the full tour dissuade you from a visit to Hunt for a bike ride. An out-and-back of any distance along either fork of the river will be one of the nicest rides you'll ever take. This is an excellent route to ride at any time of the year, but it has a special character in the cooler months, when the air is crisp, the deer are running, and the countryside seems particularly peaceful. Terrain: rolling hills. Road: Texas 39 and RM 1340 are quiet country roads; US 83 and Texas 41 carry higher-speed traffic but are lightly traveled and have ample shoulders.
