Heights Hike and Bike Trail

Heights Hike and Bike Trail Professional Review and Guide

"Located in one of the oldest neighborhoods in Houston, the Heights Hike and Bike Trail offers glimpses of some of the most beautiful examples of Victorian and turn-of-the-century architecture Houston has to offer. Chosen for its higher elevation (23 feet higher than downtown Houston), Houston Heights was started in 1890 by Oscar Martin Carter, a self-made millionaire.

He created a utopian neighborhood at a time when Houston was plagued with yellow fever and annual floods. After years of blight, the Houston Heights Association was established in 1973 to revitalize the community and preserve its historic buildings."

This bike trail has awesome views of Houston. It's all paved and it's an easy ride. Joggers and walkers use this trail a lot too. If you like seeing the neighborhoods and downtown Houston this is a fun trail but its still very much "in" the city and you'll have to cross streets, etc.
