This downtown trail is located in the 23-acre Sabine-to- Bagby Waterfront Park. Due to its signature lighting system, this is a trail that is best to hike at night. The lights change colors from white to blue based on the phases of the moon. Much of the hike is below street level and passes the Theater District as it explores both sides of Buffalo Bayou. Start the hike from city parking lot H. The Blue Bayou Trail, aka the Sabine-to-Bagby Promenade, was opened in June 2006. Much of the trail is wheelchair and stroller accessible. This is a multi-use trail, so stay to the right and watch for cyclists and joggers. There are benches along the trail. The trail’s signature element is the cobalt blue and white lights that line its entire length and at night illuminate the bayou.
