Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Finding the campground: From Houston, take US 59 south for about 28 miles to the Crabb River Road exit. At Crabb River Road, turn left and proceed about 15-20 miles to Brazos Bend State Park Road entrance on the left.

About the campground: The campground covers roughly 5,000 acres, with an eastern boundary of 3.2 miles fronting the Brazos River. Activities include picnicking, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and fishing. Six lakes are easily accessible to anglers, with piers located at 40-Acre, Elm, and Hale Lakes. There are at least three free interpretive programs and hikes offered every weekend. The George Observatory is located in the park and is open Saturdays from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m. For information on stargazing programs/passes and other programs, call the observatory at (979) 553-3400 or (281) 242-3055."
