The highlight of this long loop around a plateau bordered on three sides by the Pedernales River is a grand view of the park. There are stiff climbs on the farthest section, and you must ford the river to get to the loop, but for the most part this is an easy and underused hike along old ranch roads. The hike goes through the northern portion of the park across the Pedernales River and gets much less traffic than the popular Wolf Mountain Trail. Restrooms and water are available at the trailhead and the park office.
