This ride along the Paluxy River and through the Glen Rose Formation follows the tracks left behind by dinosaurs more than 100 million years ago. Glen Rose is a small lovely town located in a lovely area about an hour's drive southwest of Fort Worth. There are restored B&Bs to stay in, pretty parks to visit, and terrific roads to ride. The Glen Rose Formation consists of alternating layers of sandstone, limestone, and shale deposited by the shallow seas that once covered Texas. Footprints of the dinosaurs that roamed the area remain imbedded in this soft stone and can be seen throughout Dinosaur Valley State Park, which you'll pass 5 miles into your ride. Terrain: gently rolling terrain along county roads. Some hills on FM roads. Road: County roads are narrow, well maintained, lightly traveled, FM 205 and FM 51 are two lanes, no shoulder, light traffic. FM 56 has a wide shoulder.
