Tiny Luckenbach is as much an event as it is a location. It may be hard to find, but it is hard to forget. The general store, post office, and dance hall that make up Luckenbach are full of unique charm and interesting characters. Luckenbach is renowned for impromptu country music performances and an eclectic country manner. If you stop here, be careful not to get so relaxed that you can't get back on your bike and finish the ride. Once off the main road, you'll have a pleasant ride along the river for a while, past rams and sheep grazing in nicely kept fields. Terrain: rolling hills; no extraordinary climbs. Road: some riding on busy roads: Texas 16 (4.8 miles), US 87 (1.3 miles), and US 290 (1.1 miles) all have four lanes; there are shoulders on Texas 16 and US 290. Some traffic on RM 1376, otherwise isolated country roads.

We did a section of this trail. We camped at Lady Bird Johnson Muni Park and rode from there to Luckenbach. It was a great ride, can't wait to do it again and expand on it. We are road biking newbies right now, and this was a great trail for us - rolling hills that got the heartrate up but didn't kill us, beautiful scenery, very little car traffic except for sections on 87 and 1376. 87 has very narrow shoulder but visibility is good. 1376 has almost no shoulder and less visibility so be mindful. One tricky part - while on Cain City Rd heading East you will pass an intersection with Luckenbach Cain City Road. You would think that you should turn left on Luckenbach CC Rd to get to Luckenbach, but don't be fooled! Stay straight on CC Road and don't hit the gravel patch that took my riding buddy down...

Some of the route was heavily traveled and some was virtually no traffic at all. Luckenbach was not easy to find as it is only a bar and a post office.
