Davis Mountains State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Davis Mountains State Park, almost 2,709 acres in size, is located in Jeff Davis County, approximately halfway between Guadalupe Mountains National Park and Big Bend National Park. The upper half of the park, north of TX 118, has been designated the Limpia Canyon Primitive Area, a special-use area (small fee required). It currently includes 10 miles of backcountry hiking trails with primitive tent and equestrian campsites, a secured parking area, and a host campsite. Activities at the park include nature study, picnicking, hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and interpretive programs.

The park also features a playground, an interpretive center, 9 miles of hiking trails (not including the Limpia Creek Primitive Area), and a Texas State Park Store. A self-registration station is available at the headquarters for visitors arriving after office and/or park host duty hours. Campsite availability and status information is posted each evening."
