Falcon Hiking Trail Loop is a simple, relaxing route that directs hikers around the perimeter of Falcon State Park. The trail begins on the north side of the entry kiosk and ends just south of the same across Park Road 46. A small rocky hilltop at the trailhead gives hikers an overview of the dense Tamaulipan thorn scrub that will envelop their descent. Botanical markers give a thorough accounting of many of the scrub species along the way. The trail occasionally follows the banks of the International Falcon Reservoir, leading to some pleasantly shaded picnic tables and a comfortable place to watch the sun set over the water.
