This bike ride starts at the Texas State Railroad depot in Rusk. The route heads north and west through the forests and rural communities of Cherokee County, over some challenging hills, and along a lovely lakeshore. Rusk is the seat of Cherokee County, and there are lovely parks throughout town. One park includes the state's longest footbridge. Terrain: extremely hilly, especially on FM 747. Road: US 84 has a wide shoulder, or climbing land; other roads are lightly traveled.
