This 5-mile, out-and-back trail gets its name from its location—the north shore of Lake Grapevine—and is a favorite among North Texas hikers, joggers, and cyclists. The trail has lots of rocks and roots, plenty of winding curves, and lots of ups and downs. It may be too steep in places for small children or anyone with mobility issues. The payoff for those who tackle the arduous trek is glorious vistas of the lake. The trail splits in some places, with those heading north taking one track and those heading south taking the other. Hikers should yield to cyclists, a difficult challenge in places where the narrow trail is lined by thorny briars much of the year.
