Garner State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"You can tell a park is popular when the drive-up to the entrance station has traffic lanes similar to a sports arena or a large amusement park. There is also a radio frequency for current information about this rather remote, but special, place. As you enter the park, be sure to get the extensive and detailed map to assist you in finding your campsite and begin exploring why Garner State Park has such a high number of visitors.
On a quiet night, or while enjoying an early cup of tea or coffee, you can hear the flowing ripples. You can also hear the rumble of nearby thunderstorms, which is a reminder to heed any warnings from the park rangers. While the spring-fed water’s level is fairly constant, heavy rainfall upstream can send this serene river into a massive flash flood that will clean and rearrange the sandbars for the next visitors. At the river, you will find not only sandy beaches and gentle wading areas but also deep swimming holes and towering cypress trees with ropes to swing out on."
