Washington-on-the-Brazos Challenge Professional Review and Guide
"For idyllic pastureland, spectacular spring wildflowers, and historic interest, a ride along the roads between the village of Chappell Hill and the Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park is hard to beat. This rural area can be reached from metropolitan Houston in less than an hour's drive. Chappell Hill is a convenient and fun place to begin a tour of this area, and it allows a longer ride along these lovely back roads. Many of the older buildings lining the main street have been restored and house nice shops and places to eat. Take time to enjoy the beautiful state historical park on Brazos River. Terrain: gently rolling hills. Road: FM roads are two lanes, no shoulders, light traffic except during spring wildflower season. Texas 105 has higher-speed traffic, wide shoulder."
