Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"As you leave Burnet heading west on TX 29, the Texas Hill Country views begin to unfold on the horizon. Turning right on Ranch Road 2341, this scenic winding road takes you away from civilization and dead-ends into Canyon of the Eagles. This multifunction park is part of the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) system and provides a wide range of activities for the whole family.

As you enter the park on the Heart of Texas Wildlife Trail, the Eagle Eye Observatory turnoff is on your immediate right at 0.1 mile. This 0.8-mile gravel road leads to one of the darkest areas of the state and to a permanent observation area hosted by the Austin Astronomical Society."
